MainMenu is an application that adds a small button into the menu.

This small button hides a detailed menu that provides you various system maintaining functionality. The provided functionality looks like the one provided by applications like OnyX or Maintenance.

Besides the tasks that can be performed by Maintenance or OnyX, MainMenu can do its own specific jobs. In the 'Finder' submenu you can find some interesting features that can work with the Trash, the Dock menu, and, of course, with the Finder. This menu has these functions: Force Empty Trash, Show Invisibles, Hide Invisibles, Relaunch Finder, Quit Finder, and restart Dock.

Besides the 'Finder' submenu it has another submenu that provides some miscellaneous features. The name of that submenu is intuitively called 'Other Tasks'. It provides powerful features such as: Clean Archived Logs, Clean All Logs, Remove Temporary Files, Flush Lookup Cache, Remove .DS_Store files, Secure Empty Trash, Disable Dashboard, Enable Dashboard, Clean Dashboard Cache, Clear Dashboard processes, and Restart System Menu Bar.

As you can see, this program provides plenty of useful features. It's recommended not to use a certain functionality if you're not aware of its consequences.

The 'Preferences' panel is pretty simple to use. The most important functionality that you can find there is a list of the batch jobs that this application should execute. This list is very simple to define because it uses checkboxes.

Pluses: it gives you various maintenance tools in a very structured way; the log of the processes is well designed; it can run batch jobs.

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: this application provides a simple menu that has powerful maintanance features. It is also faster than OnyX, and it has a comparable speed with Maintenance.
